Finding My Way Through Menopause: A Poem by Kelly
The Struggle
"Get back to doing it." they said,
but how can I when I'm too far in my head.
I used to do it with passion and drive
but now I struggle and feel deprived.
The Transition
Menopause was immediate when the doctor said "that's it."
Hot flashes, no drive and mood swings, stop crying you idiot!
The Resolution
Deep down I know I must push through,
I'll take small steps, that's what I'll do.
I'll embrace the journey, the highs and the lows
and let my true self once again show.
The Renewal
My cheeks will glow and my eyes will dance.
Yes! I deserve another chance!
So I will get back to doing it with patience and grace.
Finding my new self I will embrace!
